FAQ

At Madison Ridgen Athletic Therapy, we understand that you may have some questions before booking your initial assessment. We've compiled a list of some of the most commonly asked questions to help provide you with the information you need. If you don't see your question here, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.

  • What Is A First Appointment Like?
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to build a solid foundation for your recovery or performance enhancement journey. We're committed to providing you with the knowledge and tools you need to achieve your goals. It is recommended that you wear something where your area of concern is accessible/visible so that your therapist may properly assess you. You can anticipate a thorough physical assessment during which the therapist will evaluate your injury. This assessment serves as the baseline for developing a tailored rehabilitation program designed to address your unique needs. The session will conclude with the therapist delivering comprehensive education regarding the injury, an in-depth overview of the forthcoming rehabilitation process for the injury and booking subsequent treatments.
  • What Should I Bring To My First Appointment?
To your first appointment, we recommend you bring or come dressed in athletic apparel or loosely fitting clothing. We also recommend you bring a water bottle, Physician Notes (if applicable), MRI or x-ray reports (if applicable), braces or mobility aids (if applicable), and have questions prepared to ask your therapist if you have any.
  • Can I Continue My Regular Activities While Receiving Treatment ?
Depending on the severity and type of the injury will determine whether or not our therapists will recommend if it is safe at the current moment to continue participating in your regular activities. Some injures require rest from certain types of activities. However, M.R.A.T. recognizes the importance of physical activity in individuals everyday lives, and will work with the individual to devise a plan, to safely return to physical activity, or how to manage the physical demands of the activity to continue to be involved within the activity and community.
  • Do I Need A Referral?
You do not need a referral to make an appointment however, it may be required by your insurance in order for you to get coverage.
  • How Do I Book An Appointment?
We recommend you click on the 'Book an Appointment' button, to take you to our booking platform, or you can call or email to book an appointment.
  • Does Madison Ridgen Athletic Therapy Direct Bill Insurance Companies?
At M.R.A.T. we current direct bill to Manitoba Public Insurance for any motor vehicle incidents. We currently do not direct bill to other private insurances, but will direct bill to private insurance in the near future.
  • Are Minors Allowed To Attend Appointments Without A Parent or Guardian?
At M.R.A.T. we require a parent or guardian to sign an informed consent form for their child before starting the assessment. Once the parent or guardian has signed the form, they are allowed to leave if they wish. We do recommend for a parent or guardian to be present during the initial assessment, to allow for everyone to understand the approach and recommendations for treatment.
